The MS Supreme Court on December 15th announced the adoption of a new set of MS Rules of Criminal Procedure, which will apply to all Justice, Municipal, County and Circuit Courts. The new rules go into effect July 1, 2017. Here’s a link to the rules: https://courts.ms.gov/

Wearing my criminal defense lawyer cap this morning. Historically, criminal defense Courtrooms are the battleground for American’s Constitutional rights.

This morning I’m up in Clarke County, MS on a criminal defense case. One of the most pleasant courtroom experiences I’ve ever had. Everyone from Judge, Prosecutor, Court Clerks and Police Officer were extremely nice and wonderful to work with. FIRST RULE: Always be nice and respectful to the officer investigating his case. Whether you are eventually proven not guilty, guilty or reach a plea deal the officer may have to testify or the Judge and/or prosecutor may learn about how you acted during your questioning, arrest or detainment.
